"Consignment is a Seller placing an object or collection of objects in the hands of a Broker but retaining ownership until the goods are sold to a Buyer by the Broker."
1st Policy - I'm the Broker and I represent the Seller.
2nd Policy - Seller places object(s) in my hands for an
agreed upon period of time, the Consignment Period, typically one year,
or for the duration of an antique show. This means that I have
possession of the object(s). Traceability of ownership back to the
Seller is established through the Agreement Identification Number.
3rd Policy - At the end of the Consignment Period, Seller may extend the Consignment Period or request return of object(s) if not sold.
4th Policy - I take 25% of the sale price as payment. There is no charge if the object(s) is/are returned at the end of the Consignment Period.
5th Policy - If the Seller wishes, and sometimes this is best on high end items, a minimum selling price will be agreed upon. I will not sell for less than that price, unless the Seller specifically requests otherwise.
Buyer: For your information, I will not inform you of the minimum price nor will I ask my Seller to reduce the agreed upon price, but I will inform the Seller of any reasonable offers made.
6th Policy - I will attempt to sell object(s) in this order:
- notification to known Collectors seeking specific items (right-of-first-refusal)
- posted on this web site with e-mail distribution notification
- on-line classifieds and bulletin boards
- public shows including trade, antique, sport, or other
- on-line or public auctions with reserves when required
7th Policy - Seller pays for auction and classifieds fees.
8th Policy - Buyer pays for shipping and applicable taxes.
9th Policy - In the act of Brokering I ensure accurate
and honest disclosure of value and condition of object(s) at all times.
While I do represent the Seller, I want the Buyer to come back too!
