Here's
my philosophy about fishing: In his book, On Walden Pond, Henry
David Thoreau wrote a chapter on wood, pointing out that it warmed him
twice; first in the cutting, and second in the burning. Sport fishing
has that same meaning to me. There is joy when I am on the water, but
not solely so. I derive pleasure from sport fishing in so many other
ways too.
I've been sport fishing my entire life, starting with my Dad and
Grandfather in New Brunswick in the early 1950s. In fact, the picture of me
was taken on the
Marimichi River in NB.
For the last 20 years I've mainly flyfished because I couldn't afford all the equipment needed to fish multiple different techniques. Besides, I love to tie my own flies, make my own rods, and make up my own stories.
My playground is British Columbia, Canada. I can fish year around
here. Both NB and BC have a rich history of sport fishing and I've had the opportunity to break water with some very interesting fishers, the good, the bad, and the ugly and even the famous.
I conceived the idea for collectsportfishing.com in late
2008. It was inspired by She's doll business and in fact mirrors the
business model we've developed over the past 6 years. Subsequently, I
have experience in buying, selling, and consigning old stuff, with
antique shows, and estate collections.
